Best pesticides to kill ants?

Anybody knows what are best pesticide brands to use to kill ants? I have bee hives on my property and they are full with ants. I have tried buying chalk (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260793624122) but it didn't help. I'm thinking about buying pesticides and spreading it around the hives. What would be the best brand to buy in California?
